A massive legacy return is officially in the works for Port Charles. According to new reports, daytime alum Kelly Kruger is joining the cast of the ABC soap opera. She is set to step into the iconic role of Serena Baldwin, bringing a beloved legacy character back to the canvas after a lengthy absence.

Fans won’t have to wait very long to see how the character fits back into the current landscape of the show.

A Daytime Alum Steps into Port Charles

Soap fans will immediately recognize the actress from her previous high-profile stints in the afternoon lineup. She famously got her official daytime start on The Young and the Restless, appearing as Mackenzie Browning from 2002 to 2003, with additional return appearances from 2018 to 2019. She also worked in a recurring capacity on The Bold and the Beautiful as Eva.

Outside of daytime, the actress has built an impressive resume across primetime television and film, including memorable guest spots on hit series like Criminal Minds and Entourage. On a personal note, she is also known to fans as the ex of fellow soap star Darin Brooks.

The actress expressed immense excitement about joining the production, noting that working with the current team is a dream come true. She emphasized that daytime holds a very special place in her heart and praised the incredible level of talent and hard work the cast and writers put out.

A Legacy Character Reborn After Years Away

She is the biological daughter of Scott Baldwin and the late Dominique Stanton. She was brought into the world with legacy icon Lucy Coe serving as her surrogate mother.

The beloved character was last portrayed on screen by actress Carly Schroeder, who made a brief return for a special tribute episode.

According to the latest production updates, filming for these highly anticipated scenes officially begins on Monday, June 8.
